Chris is the Executive Director and Co-founder of the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism. His cameras and pen have carried him to report on stories on nearly every continent and his award winning projects have been published in hundreds of the world's leading periodicals and broadcast networks including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, CNN, National Geographic TV, BBC, The Guardian and Mother Jones. He has a graduate degree in Visual Communication from Ohio University and BS in journalism from James Madison University. His photography, films, writing and editing have been recognized nationally and internationally, earning him numerous awards from esteemed competitions, including Pictures of the Year international, National Press Photographers Association, Association of British Science Writers, Communication Arts, The Telly Awards, Society for Environmental Journalists, The Society for News Design, and The Associated Press.
